6 Days Kilimanjaro Climb via the Marangu Route 2026, 2027 & 2028
Overview
The 6 Days Marangu Route is one of the most popular ways to climb Mount Kilimanjaro (5,895 m). Often referred to as the “Coca-Cola Route,” it is the oldest and only route that offers comfortable mountain hut accommodation instead of camping. The extra acclimatization day at Horombo Hut significantly improves summit success compared to the 5-day itinerary, making this the recommended option for climbers choosing the Marangu Route. The trail ascends through lush rainforest, scenic moorland, alpine desert, and finally to the Arctic summit of Uhuru Peak, before descending along the same route.
Tour Highlights
- Reach Uhuru Peak (5,895 m) – the highest point in Africa.
- Stay in comfortable mountain huts instead of tents.
- Extra acclimatization day for higher summit success.
- Trek through five unique ecological zones.
- Visit the scenic Maundi Crater viewpoint.
- Enjoy breathtaking views of Mawenzi and Kibo Peaks.
- Professional English-speaking mountain guides, porters, and experienced mountain chef.
- Freshly prepared meals throughout the climb.

Best Time to Climb
The Marangu Route can be climbed throughout the year, but the most favorable conditions are during:
- January – March – Cooler temperatures with fewer climbers.
- June – October – Dry season with clear skies and excellent summit conditions.
The 6-day itinerary is recommended over the shorter 5-day version because the additional acclimatization day at Horombo Hut greatly improves comfort, reduces the risk of altitude sickness, and increases the likelihood of reaching Uhuru Peak successfully.
